“The doer of good becomes the good.”
-Ron Poplau, Educator & Author, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School
What is it about great teachers that sets them apart?
Is it that they believe that every student is capable of great success? Is it their ability to inspire a love of learning that lasts a lifetime? Or, even more than that—does their success lie in their deep desire to make the world a better place?
At Motivis Learning, we know that great educators come in many shapes and forms, but their desire to make a difference fuels their happiness and their success (and their students’ successes, too): As Rosabeth Moss Kanter, the award-winning Ernest L. Arbuckle professor of Business at Harvard University, once said, “Happiness comes from the feeling you are making a difference.”
How do you plan to make a difference in the world?
As a future teacher, you’re a champion of student success, and of “doing good.” You inspire us, because we know you face enormous challenges as you venture into the classroom, not the least among them a mountain of student debt.
So, to thank you for striving for a better world, and to support you on your journey, we’ve established a scholarship fund. This year, we will award $10,000 to an aspiring educator who can tell us how they plan to, in the words of Ron Poplau, “become the good.”
In no more than 800 words (but no fewer than 500), tell us how you plan to change the world through education. More specifically, will you promote student success in the classroom and beyond, through community engagement, emerging instructional practices, and/or educational technology?
